Subsidence, Fire, Storm & Flood
If you are unfortunate to experience any of subsidence, fire, storm
or flood, then you will probably have to make a claim on your insurance.
To get the best level of compensation, it would be wise to have
a professional representing you. Remember that the majority of insurance
companies and their loss adjustors will generally try to minimise
the pay-out.
Subsidence
When subsidence is suspected, usually because there are cracks
evident, it is necessary to undertake a survey. A property might
start cracking for several reasons, so it is necessary to determine
whether it is in fact subsidence, or whether there is some other
reason.
If subsidence is suspected, it is usual for the insurance company
to insist that the cracking is monitored for a period of time. This
is to determine whether the cracking is continuing before deciding
what remedial action is required.
We will investigate and prepare a report, monitor the cracking,
prepare a specification and supervise the repair works.
Fire, Storm & Flood
Most of the damage will be very obvious! However there are parts
which are not so obvious. In the case of fire, damage will also
be caused by heat, smoke and water (from the Fire Brigade).
We will survey the property, prepare a specification of repair
and reinstatement works, and also deal with the local authority
and insurance company on your behalf. We will also negotiate with
the loss adjustor to ensure that the reinstatement complies with
current building regulations.
